The Okavango Delta is one of Africa's last great wilderness areas — a vast, inland river delta that floods seasonally, creating a mosaic of waterways, islands and floodplains teeming with wildlife.
The Okavango Delta in northern Botswana is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most unique ecosystems on Earth. Each year, floodwaters from the Angolan highlands travel over 1,000 kilometres to spread across the Kalahari Desert, creating a 15,000-square-kilometre oasis.
This annual flood transforms the landscape, attracting wildlife from across the region. The delta is home to the Big Five, large herds of elephant and buffalo, African wild dog, hippo, crocodile, and over 400 bird species.
Access is primarily by light aircraft, landing on remote airstrips at luxury camps. It's exclusive, remote and utterly unforgettable.
