Spanning over 14,600 square kilometres, Hwange National Park sits in the northwest of Zimbabwe, near the edge of the Kalahari sands. Its diverse habitats — from teak forests to grassy plains — support over 100 mammal species and nearly 400 bird species.
The park is famous for its huge elephant herds, which can number in the hundreds during the dry months. Lion, leopard, wild dog, giraffe, zebra and countless antelope species thrive here. Hwange also holds one of Africa's densest populations of brown hyena.
